Taekwondo Academy of Khasi Hills brings laurels to state
Shillong: A team of Taekwondo Academy of Khasi Hills led by coach S Konwar and Women Coach L Konwar represented Meghalaya in the Taekofest Season 2, a National Taekwondo Festival held at Grish Park Stadium in Kolkata from December 26 to 28.
The team was honored with Best Performance and Discipline Trophy by Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Minister Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal. The team also bagged 10 Gold, 9 Silver and 7 bronze Medals.
Sputnik defeat Riatsamthiah
Shillong: TNT Sputnik CC won by 125 runs against Riatsamthiah in the Shillong Cricket League Super Division match played at the cricket ground, Polo on Saturday.
Displaying a brilliant batting performance, Sputnik scored a mammoth 261 runs losing all their wickets in 39.1 overs. Swarajeet Das scored a brilliant 93 runs off 87 balls and Chaman Pushp scored 58 runs off 62 balls. Among bowlers, Banpynshngain Dolloi of Riatsamthiah picked up five wickets which includes a hat-trick.
In reply, Riatsamthiah were bundled out for 136 runs in 28.1 overs with Ibitlang Thabah contributing 25 runs off 32 balls. Sputnik’s Amiangshu Sen, Sourav Sharma and Uttam Chanda picked up two wickets each.
