No untoward incident in city on New Year

SHILLONG: No untoward incident was reported in the city during New Year celebrations as compared to the 25 cases of drunken driving on the eve of Christmas. The city police had stepped up their vigil after Christmas to prevent road rogues on the eve of New Year as well as on January 1. “There were no reported cases of accidents or incidents of drunken driving during the celebrations,” police said.A senior government official expressed hope that the same spirit will continue in the days to come that will help the law enforcing agencies to maintain normalcy.
