SHILLONG: Continuing its mission to expose the truth behind demonetisation, the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) on Thursday burnt effigies of Narendra Modi, Arun Jaitley, Amit Shah and Nalin Kohli in front of the BJP office at Danakgre in Tura and SBI branches at Araimile, Chandmary, Dobasipara, in front of the bank’s Main Branch and Evening Branch in Tura and several other places in the State.
The protest was led by MPYC President Richard Marak. “Modi had asked the citizens of the nation to bear with him for 50 days or he would face any punishment given by the citizens of the nation,” Marak said.
According to Marak, Modi’s 50 days are up and the citizens of the nation are still facing the hardships due to demonetisation. “We are calling his bluff and demand that he sticks to his word and faces the nation or will he make a complete turnaround,” he added.
“From past records, it is understood that he is a man who does not value his own words and is known to make outrageous false promises for publicity,” Marak said.
