SHILLONG: At a time when the State is yet to come to terms with the shocking gang rape incidents reported from Mawryngkneng and South West Khasi Hills, a delayed report has brought to light the gang rape of two minor girls in Tura on the eve of Christmas.
According to the report, the two girls were gang raped by four miscreants while another girl escaped from their clutches.
According to police, a complaint was lodged that on December 24, around 10.30 pm, one Chanang Ch Marak along with his three accomplices abducted three minor girls in a vehicle from near William Point, Hawakhana, Tura, and took them to an unknown place and gang raped two of them. However, one of the girls managed to escape. When contacted, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi said all efforts are being made to apprehend the culprits.
