SHILLONG: The casual workers of MeECL have given the power corporation time till January 16 to dispatch appointment letters or face agitation. MeECL has been delaying the handing out appointment letters to 772 candidates whose names appeared on the merit list on August 2, 2016. J.K Shangpliang, convener of the casual jugalis, in a media statement said the jugalis who have not been appointed till date are requested to attend the meeting on January 16 at Lumkingshai. Shangpliang said as per the guidelines of the Government the merit list will lapse after a year but till date MeECL has not dispatched the appointment letters even six months after the results were announced.
