SHILLONG: The FKJGP Nongthymmai Circle on Tuesday met the Principal of ITI Rynjah to apprise him of the condition of the ITI hostel located behind the institute’s premises in Rynjah.
The group met Principal N.W Momin after carrying out an inspection of the hostel.
During the inspection, the NGO noticed that the building was in a shambles and all the rooms were in a dilapidated condition.
While the floors were strewn with medicine strips, syringes and empty liquor bottles, some of the walls had lewd graffiti on them.
A year ago, a girl was also found raped and murdered on the premises.
During the meeting, Momin said the building was constructed in the late 2000 by the PWD and it was not formally handed over to the institution till date and another round of reconstruction is being proposed by the department.
The FKJGP also felt that since the hostel is for students coming from far-off areas, something should have been done earlier in order to ease the accommodation problem.
