SHILLONG: The HSPDP, which had called Nongkrem MDC H.S Shylla a threat to the indigenous communities in the State, on Wednesday found itself on the receiving end of the United Democratic Party’s wrath.
The Nongkrem circle of the United Democratic Party (UDP) said on Wednesday HSPDP president Ardent Basaiawmoit will not come back to power in 2018.
In a statement to the press issued by UDP working president of the Nongkrem Circle Hilarius Warbah said, “H.S Shylla may or may not be the next CEM, but it is for sure that Ardent Basaiawmoit will not come to power in 2018 as the people have started to dislike him.”
Referring to HSPDP’s ‘threat’ remark, Warbah said, “It is not a danger to the indigenous community but to the president of HSPDP as he was removed as the chairman of Laitkor Pyllun on January 9.”
The UDP press communiqué further pointed out that rift in HSPDP is imminent. “Basaiawmoit longs to be the Chief Minister as he once said during his campaign at Nongkrem,” it stated.
The UDP Nongkrem circle was confident that the Madanrting Police Station area that has come under MUDA and other villages like Rangbihbih, Umsaw, Mawiong, Mawnariam, Lyngkienshyiap and Mawsing will not vote for Basaiawmoit in 2018.
