Ri Bhoi police get 5-day custody of Julius

SHILLONG: A local court in Nongpoh granted Ri Bhoi police five-day custody of Mawhati MLA Julius Dorphang on Friday against the seven-day custody sought by police.
After the production warrant was issued by the Nongpoh court, the Shillong court allowed Dorphang to be produced in the Nongpoh court after which he was sent to five-day police custody.
Dorphang was in 14-day judicial custody since Thursday as per the first case of rape of the 14-year-old girl under Madanrting police station.
A second case was filed against Dorphang in Ri Bhoi after he raped the minor girl in Orchid Lake Resort in Umiam.
Both the FIRs were lodged by Chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Meena Kharkongor.
