Programme for PWD contractors held

TURA: A two-day programme on Capacity Building and Convergence on Value Chain Initiatives for Contractors of Public Works Department (Roads) was began on Monday at SMELC Conference Hall in Dakopgre.
The programme, organised by Meghalaya Infrastructure Development Finance Cooperation (MIDFC) in collaboration with the Public Works Department (PWD), is to create awareness among the people of the area, especially contractors, to be more efficient and professional while implementing their road projects as well as to focus on providing livelihood opportunities by imparting entrepreneurial skills.
“This is necessitated in view of the stringent norms imposed by various funding agencies,” said P.K Marbaniang, GM of Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation and OSD, Meghalaya Basin Development Authority.
The MSME Ministry has a scheme to provide grant for setting up Livelihood Business Incubator (LBI) across the country and Principal Secretary and CEO of MBDA and MIDFC R.M Mishra has taken the initiative to set up LBI across the Meghalaya.  Prof. J Ganesan, consultant at MBDA, New Delhi, has been entrusted to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for LBI to be presented to the concerned Ministry.
