SHILLONG: A BSF jawan had a short and bitter Rip van Winkle moment while travelling from Ladrymbai to Shillong.
R.P Singh of 19th Battalion BSF-Mawpat, after finishing his work at Khliehriat, boarded a truck from Ladrymbai on January 13 to come to Shillong.
On the way, Singh fell asleep. When he woke up, it was the morning of January 14. He found out that his cellphone, Rs 1,400 in cash and ATM card were missing.
In his police complaint, Singh has said he woke up and found himself at Ummulong beat house with injuries on his body.
However, locals said they spotted him lying on the road side in Ummulong.
Jowai Police said the matter is being investigated and efforts are on to identify the truck.
It is also surprising that the BSF personnel did not board a bus or a taxi but took a truck to come to Shillong.
