Vehicles plying without permits

SHILLONG: A large number of commercial and non-commercial vehicles are plying in the State without payment of permit, road tax and passengers and goods tax which have resulted in the loss of revenue earnings to the state exchequer, reports received by the Under Secretary in the Transport Department showed.
Therefore, the government has issued instructions to the District Transport Officers and Secretary Regional Transport Authority to not allow such vehicles without payment of dues or requisite fees and enforcement of rules, regulations and checking should be conducted vigorously. Violators will be penalised as per the law, the government said.
