Nongpoh: The first ever Mrs Ri Bhoi competition which was slated to be held earlier has now been shifted to January 28.
In order to pursue the talent of women folk of the district the Women Organisation of Ri Bhoi District (WORD) has decided to go ahead with the event.
President of WORD JJ Kylla told newsmen that the main aim and objectives of the show is to maintain the unity among the women folk of the district and to help them pursue their talent in the common platform.
The organisation invites the women of the district to participate and lend their support as the main intention of the event was to fight crime against women in the district and the state as a whole.
Dancers’ body seeks govt help to promote talents
SHILLONG: The All Meghalaya Dancers Association (AMDA) will send a memorandum to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for the second time to draw his attention towards recognising talents in the State.
The dancers’ association had, in the past, urged the Chief Minister to set up a dancing institution to promote young singers and dancers.
The association also sought financial assistance and sponsorship from the state government for various competitions.
Meanwhile, AMDA has elected new office bearers during its general meeting on January 7, 2017.
Kitbok Thabah and Comet Lyngdoh are the new president and vice-president, respectively.
Darwin Lyngdoh is the general secretary and Diana Khriam the assistant secretary.
