Three-way corridor to and from the upcoming ISBT at Chasingre proposed
TURA: Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya Shreeranjan reviewed the status of various projects being implemented in West Garo Hills district under the department of Transport, Tura Municipal Board and Urban Affairs on Saturday at Circuit House, Tura.
The projects discussed during the meeting includes Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Chasingre near Tura, Integrated Housing and Slum Development programme at Dakopgre, Solid Waste Disposal Facility and the proposed vending zones in and around the town areas of the district.
As per the comprehensive view of mobility plan for public transport service at ISBT, Chasingre is ready to function and according to the plan, there will be three corridors to commute people towards and from ISBT.
The first corridor will ply from Dakopgre to Chasingre, second from Nehru Park to Chasingre and third from Dobasipara to Chasingre. The feeder service will be provided by Tura Public Transport Service, maxicabs and autorickshaws.
In order to study the management of ISBT, Shreeranjan has directed the concerned officers to make a visit to the nearest ISBT Assam and find out their system of management. Apart from providing transport services to the people of the region, he also suggested addition of features like marketing complex and also to link with tourism industry so as to make it lucrative and earn revenue as well.
During the meeting, while informing about the necessary guidelines and instructions to be followed with regard to the implementation of Meghalaya Vendors Act, Shreeranjan further stated that there is a mention about the eligibility criteria for vendors while registration of vendors with the concerned authority is mandatory.
As per the status report given by Urban Affairs department in the meeting, the Integrated Housing and Slum Development project consisting of 408 dwelling units is complete and ready to be handed over to the shortlisted beneficiaries.
