4 kidnapped in SGH

SHILLONG: Four persons were kidnapped by suspected ASAK militants on Sunday morning from Kolapara area under Gasuapara in South Garo Hills.
According to police, at around 7 am, the armed militants kidnapped the driver and passenger of a bus operating from Sibbari to Tura. Besides, two drivers of coal laden trucks which were behind the bus, were also kidnapped.
South Garo Hills has been vulnerable due to the spurt in kidnapping cases in the past. It was on January 18 that three traders from Dalu, who were kidnapped on January 10, were released. The traders were released in SGH after their families paid Rs 25,000 as ransom. Police had suspected the role of ASAK as the kidnappers’ had sought help from ASAK leader Reding Sangma to negotiate the ransom amount for release of the traders.
