Weighment certificates
The Commissioner and Secretary of Meghalaya Transport Department have informed that the weighbridge at Ratacherra, East Jaintia Hills District belonging to Deipormi Dkhar has been notified to issue weighment certificates to all goods laden vehicles that should pass through the weighbridge for a period of one year and until further orders.
Laitkor Peak
Shillong View Point at Laitkor Peak will be closed to visitors on January 26 as per communication received from Air Force Station, Laitkor Peak, Shillong due to security reasons.
Mawpoin Tournament
Lyngkein Hima Mawphlang is hosting the first Ultimate Mawpoin Tournament with prize money on February 11. Mawpoin or Kawang Maw is a simple traditional game played by many groups of North East. Jadoh food cooking competition will be part of the tournament with prize money of Rs 10000, 5000 and 2000 for the first, second and third categories. Entry forms will be available at: You and I Arts Café, Mawlai Mawroh (opposite Mawroh community Hall), Huns Hardware, Mawngap or MaplePine Farm Lyngkein. Entries must be submitted prior to February 6.
Annual meet
The Khasi Jaintia Christian Endeavour Union (KJCEU) organised its 58th Annual Convention at the Mukhla C.E.Society, Mukhla Presbyterian Church from January 20 to 22. The general meeting was held on January 21, which coincide with Meghalaya Day, the Union, Unanimously Resolved to issue a statement to express its sincere anguish and concern as a form of protest over the rising crimes and other atrocities meted out to innocent women and children in and around the State. The KJCE Union seeks that the Law will take its course and Justice will prevail. The Union also prays for the victims and their family. This statement is issued by KJCE president, Elder C Marsing and general secretary, A.L.Gallong, on behalf of the KJCEU.
Cleaning drive
The NSS Unit Nabon Women’s Synod College, Shillong organised a special camp from January 9 to 14 at Umjathang/Umpling village in Mawsiatkhnam in which a cleaning drive and awareness programmes were conducted.
Medical camp
Free Medical and Eye Camp to be organised on January 24 in Nonghali Village, Ri Bhoi District, in collaboration with Mission Nethralaya and the Dorbar Shnong Nonghali from 10 am onwards.
