SHILLONG: The agitating SSA teachers on Wednesday set a two-week deadline to National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to reissue the rectified D.EL.ED results.
The teachers, under the banner Meghalaya SSA Schools Association, ended their two-day sit-in here on Friday but threatened to close down the NIOS office if the alleged faults are not rectified within the deadline. This is the third deadline that the association is setting for the institute.
Association president Aristotle Rymbai said they would seek the intervention of the Centre and the State Government in correcting the anomaly. General secretary of the association H.M Marbaniang said they would also submit a complaint to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on January 30. Ignoring the assurance given by Directorate of Educational Research and Training Director TG Momin, the teachers said they would intensify the protest if the deadline is not met.
Momin asked for time and told the teachers that the NIOS chairman would come to Guwahati and that he would ensure their grievances are addressed by the institute. The teachers also urged Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to institute an inquiry into the matter.
