NONGPOH: Kynjoinumran village in Ri Bhoi district is reaping the benefits of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) sponsored by the Centre.
After the scheme was properly implemented, the village has got several development works.
Speaking to the media on central schemes, VEC chairman Reswell Suting and secretary Sofast Kshiar said the villagers are happy with the development.
“Under the MGNREGS, our village has developed a lot. We are happy that roads and footpaths have improved, potable drinking water is available and other development works are being implemented under the scheme,” they said.
The duo conceded that MGNREGS is the only centrally-sponsored scheme that has brought all-round development to the village.
“The allocation of fund is also quite different from other central schemes and the amount of Rs 16 lakh under MGNREGS for 2016-17 was allocated in our village which the villagers never expected,” said Suting.
