SHILLONG: The city police are likely to file charge sheet against Mawhati MLA Julius Dorphang, who is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl, in one or two days.
Dorphang allegedly raped the girl in a guest house at Motinagar. He will be produced in the court on Wednesday when his extended 14-day judicial custody ends. Ri Bhoi police has also registered a case against the MLA for raping the girl in a resort in Umiam.
The police acted after the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights filed an FIR against Dorphang and others who raped the girl on several occasions. He was arrested from Guwahati.
Altogether 17 people have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
