SHILLONG: Mawhati MLA Julius Dorphang, who is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl, was once again remanded in 14-day judicial custody on Wednesday.
Dorphang was produced in a local court here on Wednesday amid tight security after his previous 14-day judicial custody got over. He allegedly raped the girl in a guest house at Motinagar.
Ri Bhoi police have also registered a case against the MLA for raping the girl in a resort in Umiam.
The police acted after the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights filed an FIR against Dorphang and others who raped the girl on several occasions. The MLA was arrested from Guwahati.
The city police are likely to file charge sheet against Dorphang in a day or two.
