SHILLONG: Kishan Gurung, who was arrested along with three others on Tuesday for possessing contraband, is none other than the jail warden who, in an inebriated state, had detained a group of under-trial prisoners for breaking a tube light inside the Shillong District Jail.
Four persons, including Gurung,   were arrested from Thangkhiew petrol pump near Bimola Point and police had seized suspected heroin from their possession.
The police suspect that Gurung may be supplying drugs inside the Shillong jail. Gurung and another accused were produced in a local court and they were remanded in two-day police custody.
Gurung and another warden, Chinmoy Hajong, were attacked by a group of 10 prisoners after the detention of the UTPs.
