Diabetes camp held

SHILLONG: A six-day free homoeopathic diabetes camp has been organised by the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) on its campus in Mawdiandiang from February 6. The camp was inaugurated by Kimchin Lhangum, deputy director (administration) at NEIAH.
Lhangum said the camp will not only spread awareness on diabetes but also sensitise people about the role of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) in curing the disease.
Besides Lhangum, other experts spoke on healthy diet and importance of yoga in preventing diabetes.
The need to maintain a healthy and balanced diet for successful management was stressed by dietician Elizabeth Lalramneihlun.
Vijay Kumar, associate professor in the department of Swastha Vritta stressed on yoga practice which is seen as essential in prevention and management of diabetes. Prakash Baruah reader cum deputy medical superintendent (IC) also spoke on the occasion.
