JOWAI: The Deputy Chief Minister and local MLA, R.C Laloo, inaugurated the Dorbar Hall cum Sports Auditorium of the Dorbar Shnong Loomkyrwiang in Jowai on Friday.
The Loomkyrwiang Dorbar Shnong was established in 1920 and the construction of the new dorbar hall started in 2001. Late MP P.R Kyndiah laid down the foundation stone.
Shillong South MLA Sanbor Shullai was the guest of honour. The newly elected MDC of Laban, Ricky Shullai, and Deputy JHADC Chief A. Andrew Shullai, besides IGP (Prison) F.M Dopth, were also present at the function.
The project cost was Rs 57 lakh and was completed in the later part of 2016 with financial help from Laloo (Rs. 7.9 lakh), Singh Mulieh (Rs 1.8 lakh), Andrew Shullai (Rs 1 lakh), the Sports Department (Rs 18 lakh), besides contribution from locals.
