SHILLONG: Residents of as many as seven villages were left dejected after their hamlets were excluded from the Pynursla sub-division.
Pynursla MLA and DCA minister Prestone Tynsong had informed that on February 15 the Pynursla Civil Sub Division will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
The seven villages – Mawkliaw-Kemrang, Tyrngei, Mawlatang, Suktia, Nongla, Mawsiangei and Diengsiar, will not come under the jurisdiction of Pynursla Sub-Division.
Tynsong had told reporters on Friday that the traditional heads of these villages have objected to their inclusion in the sub-division.
A meeting was convened in this regard and it was resolved to write to the minister to include Mawkliaw -Kemrang under Pynursla Civil Sub-Division.
Bires Laso, convener of the programme claimed that he spoke to the Sordars of Mawsiangei and Nongla who confirmed that they do not want to be under Sohra Sub-Division but under Pynursla.
Meanwhile, the Kemrang Social Welfare Organisation (KSWO) has decided to convene a public meeting on February 18 to get the opinion of the people whether they want to be under Sohra Civil or Pynursla Sub-Division.
