NONGSTOIN: The district and sessions court in West Khasi Hills disposed of 84 of the 1,164 cases at the National Lok Adalat held recently.
The third lok adalat, organised by the District Legal Services Authorities in West Khasi Hills, was held at the office of the district and sessions judge on Saturday.
S. Warjri, extra assistance commissioner of West Khasi Hills, said the lok adalat was an “alternative dispute resolution mechanism” and parties concerned were encouraged to amicably settle cases outside the formal judiciary system.
