NF Railway launches pilgrimage train for NE people

Guwahati: Fulfilling the promise made by the Railway Minister in the railway budget , the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway and IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) have jointly launched the “Astha Circuit Tourist Train” for the convenience of people of the Northeastern Region.
The chief spokesman of the NF Railway, P J Sharma informed that the special train will start from Kamakhya station in Guwahati for Puri and Bhubaneswar on Odisha with stoppage at Kolkata and back to Kamakhya.
For the first time, this type of special dedicated tourist train is being originated from N.F. Railway. The proposed train would take travellers to a mix of popular pilgrimage destinations across the eastern part of our country at the cheapest available rates, and will be managed by IRCTC.
The “Astha Circuit Tourist Train” would take tourists to a route comprising various religious destinations including Gangasagar, Sri Swamy Narayan Temple, Kalighat, Birla Temple, Sri Jagannath Temple, Konark Temple and Lingaraj Temple. The duration of the tour from Kamakhya and back is six nights and seven days,at a very nominal cost of Rs 850.00 per person per day barring taxes.
