SHILLONG: South West Khasi Hills Police has arrested a 50-year-old man for attempting to rape a 9-year-old girl in the district.
Based on the FIR lodged by the mother of the victim, police on Wednesday arrested one Atul Pal of Nongjri for allegedly trying to rape the minor on February 14.

Police have registered a case under POCSO and the accused will be produced before the court on Thursday.
Meanwhile, police have arrested one person in Ri Bhoi for sodomizing a minor boy.
Police said the incident happened on February 14 when one Donboklang Dkhar (18) attempted the crime on seven-year-old boy at Umran Dairy.
