NONGPOH: A one-day seminar on “Legal Aspects of Persons with Disabilities Act” was organised at Science Hall in Nongpoh on Wednesday.
The seminar, organised by the Composite Regional Centre, Department of Empowerment of persons with disabilities (DIVYANG JAN) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Guwahati Medical Colleges and Hospital, in collaboration with the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, focused on the rights of differently-abled people and the various acts to safeguard their rights.
The responsibilities of the government are also discussed at the seminar.
The purpose of this seminar is to instruct the officials, employees and people of the district to ensure proper rehabilitation of persons with disabilities and also to include them in the mainstream.
