Sporting race into third division semi-final
Shillong: Sporting CC defeated Wahingdoh CC by 16 runs in the Shillong Cricket League third division match played at cricket ground in Polo on Saturday. Electing to bat first, Sporting were all-out for 120 runs in 19.4 overs. Deepak and Govind scored 32 runs and 28 runs respectively. For Wahingdoh, Anthony and Wanaibok took three and two wickets respectively. In reply, Wahingdoh could manage to score 104 runs losing nine wickets in 20 overs in which Gaurav contributed 48 runs off 56 balls. For Sporting, Deepak and Som Pandey picked up three and two wickets respectively.

MCA to conduct coaching cum conditioning camp
Shillong: Meghalaya Cricket Association in collaboration and support of National Cricket Club, Kolkata is organising a week long coaching cum conditioning camp for U-16 and U-19 age category players of the state. The camp which will commence on Monday shall be conducted by Satrajit Lahiri, NCA Level C and ECB level – 3 coach and Chinmoy Roy of BCCI and former trainer of India-A team. Altogether 20 players from different affiliate units of MCA have been short listed for the camp which will be held both in the morning (6.30am to 9.15am) and afternoon (3pm to 5pm) sessions. A one day clinic for coaches and potential trainers will also be held.

Joshna enters quarterfinals of Cleveland Classic
Ohio (USA): India’s top ranked player Joshna Chinappa moved into the quarterfinals of the Cleveland Classic, USD 50,000 PSA event here. Playing after a month’s gap, the 14th ranked Indian, seeded third in this tournament, needed less than half an hour to counter the challenge of qualifier Hollie Naughton of Canada. Joshna won 11-9 11-4 11-5 to enter the quarterfinal round, where she will take on Emily Whitlock, the fifth seed from England. The only other Indian who had come for this event was Sachika Ingale but she could not cross the qualification phase. (PTI)

Ishank included in IPL pool after Mushtaq T20 show
New Delhi: Jharkhand right-hander Ishank Jaggi has been included in the auction pool as one of the late entrants after a string of good performances in the final leg of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. Jaggi was not kept in pruned list of 351 players that BCCI announced after consultation with the franchises. But scores of 51 no off 37 balls vs Central Zone, 90 off 51 balls against South Zone and 58 off 34 balls against West Zone forced the franchises to do a rethink and include him in the pool. His base price is Rs 10 lakh. Some of the other late entrants are former India U-19 pacer Monu Kumar, Chaitanya Bishnoi, Kshitij Sharma to name a few. (PTI)

HIL: Kalinga Lancers notch up 7-0 win over Punjab
Chandigarh: Kalinga Lancers displayed rampaging form as they decimated Punjab Warriors 7-0 to seal a semifinal berth in the fifth edition of the Hockey India League here on Saturday. The home side, thus, lost its second successive match here. Kalinga Lancers have been one of the most consistent teams in the league this season and they continued their good show by getting a lead early in the game. Dharamvir Singh of Kalinga Lancers was declared the Man of the Match and was awarded a prize money of Rs 50,000. (PTI)
