SHILLONG: Four years after the Director of School Education and Literacy issued a notice for filling the posts of sub inspector of schools and others, no appointments have been made yet.
In 2012, the Director of School Education and Literacy issued a notice to fill some posts of sub inspector of school, social education organiser/lady social education organiser by way of transfer of assistant teachers of government secondary school/headmaster of government upper primary school.
As per the notice, interested candidates were asked to submit their options with the Director of School Education and Literacy.  Around 100 candidates had applied and were even interviewed for the posts in 2013 but till date, the appointment of the candidates is still hanging fire.
Earlier, concerned over the lack of proper inspection in schools that hampered their functioning, the State government had decided to fill the vacant posts of inspectors and other officials.
In the past, several media reports had exposed lack of facilities in various schools.
The government in the past had claimed that the departmental promotion has been cleared and all vacancies at the district level will be filled.
School Education and Literacy Minister Deborah Marak had also said all the vacancies at the district level will be filled at the earliest.
