SHILLONG: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation on Tuesday lodged an FIR against three coal-laden truckas for violating NGT order by carrying coal beyond the permissible limit and plying without valid documents.
According to the FIR lodged by CSWO leader Agnes Kharshiing, the trucks driven by Lister Mylliemngap, Rimiki Myrboh and Winstar Mylliemngap, were transporting coal more than 9 MT.
The drivers told Kharshiing that they got the mineral transport challans from Mookyndur at Rs 22,000 per truck.
“We were also told that the owner of the coal should pay to the DMR (Directorate of Mineral Resources) but there are many irregularities. The supplier is someone from West Garo Hills as permit form 37 specifies while coal comes from Sutnga as told by the driver. Coal mining is still carried out and the mineral transport challan and Meghalaya environment protection and restoration fund is shown as someone from East Jaintia Hills District and the Central excise invoice from Nongrim Hills, East Khasi Hills District,” she said.
According to Kharshiing, even the cash memos are not filled as they are used every day.
With the help of the DMR staff at 13th Mile, Byrnihat, Ri Bhoi District, the overloaded trucks do not enter the official route to be weighed. Money is taken by certain dalals who manage the overloaded trucks and dalals get around Rs 10000 per truck.
