SHILLONG: Knowledge is the antidote to discrimination, North Eastern Council (NEC) secretary Ram Muivah said on Tuesday while stressing on interaction among people for emotional integration.
Muivah, who was addressing a gathering of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) delegates here, said, “Today’s society needs more large-hearted people and men and women of character.”
Talking to ABVP members at a programme on ‘Students’ Experience in Inter-State Living’ (SEIL), the NEC secretary appreciated the organisation and its history.
ABVP’s national joint organising secretary K.N Raghunandan, who addressed the crowd before Muivah, said, “We are trying to create leadership and citizens who say Bharat Mata ki jai and Vande Mataram.”
He added that SEIL promotes unity and integration among students from the North East and the mainland for the progress of the nation.
“People should read the history of India to make the younger generation confident,” the ABVP leader said.
Asserting that ABVP has been active in Meghalaya for decades, Raghunandan urged all to join the national integration movement.
