Meghalaya poetry competition, festival held

SHILLONG: A prize distribution programme for sixth Meghalaya poetry competition and poetry festival was held on February 24 and 25.
The function was organised by All India Poetess Conference (AIPC), Meghalaya chapter, in collaboration with the State Government at Dinam Hall, Jaiaw.
As many as 54 participants from different schools and colleges from all the districts of the State have been awarded with certificates, mementoes and cash prizes.
Poems were composed in Khasi, Garo, Hindi and English languages.
Additional Deputy Commissioner I. Majaw released a book of poetry titled ‘Mother Earth’ during the opening session. The book is a collection of poems by prize winners edited by Prof. Streamlet Dkhar, the secretary general of AIPC.
Many poetesses and poets from all the districts of Meghalaya recited their own multilingual poems during the session.
N. Munish Singh was the chief guest during the concluding session.
Both Majaw and Singh appreciated the activities of AIPC for the development of literary activities in the State.
