SHILLONG/NONGSTOIN: There were several families who had boarded the ill-fated truck to attend the Synod in West Khasi Hills, but death separated many of them.
Some relatives who were injured in the accident and were admitted in hospitals were seen engaged in frantic searches for their near and dear ones who were no more.
As the many injured were being rushed to Shillong Civil Hospital, a lady who suffered head and hand injuries moaned in pain and in a faint voice told her relative to look after her husband, not knowing that he was no more. Her son who suffered critical injuries was taken to NEIGRIHMS.
An injured victim, Sukmary Lyngkhoi (21) of Nginiong village, told The Shillong Times at NEIGRIHMS that she was with her mother and aunt along with others.
Her mother and aunt were among the deceased but she did not know that they had died at the time when she narrated the matter to this reporter.
