SHILLONG: There is a need to have a policy to integrate the traditional and tribal healers of the North East into AYUSH, said Dean of All India Institute of Ayurveda (New Delhi) P.K Prajapati. Prajapati, who was addressing a gathering at the national seminar on the ‘Role of AYUSH in Healthcare Management in NE India’ at North-Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) at Mawdiandiang, said, “Proper policy making is essential to integrate the traditional and tribal healers in the region into the mainstream of AYUSH to scientifically authenticate the ethno-medicinal information.” Over 120 papers were presented by the delegates from all over India in six scientific sessions at the two-day seminar, chaired by NEIAH director P.K Goswami, that started on February 23.
