Awareness programme
Meghalaya Aids control society in collabo-ration with K.L. Bajoria College will organise an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS on the theme ‘Express and spread the message’ on March 3 on the college Auditorium at 11 am.
Midday meal scheme
West Jaitnia Hills District DC has informed that the midday meal rice for L.P. and U.P. Schools and Out of School Children under Midday Meal Scheme will be distributed from March 1 through their respective Fair Price Shop Dealers for Jowai Sardar. Scale of issue is 3.137 kg per student for L.P. School and 6.347 kg per student for U.P. Schools. Necessary permit will be issued upto 31.03.2017.
Gratuitous relief
The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District has informed that an amount of Rs 28100 has been sanctioned for payment of relief to the families and beneficiaries affected by Natural calamities in different villages under Laskein C&RD Block.
Member of MSCW nominated
The Government of Meghalaya has nominated Bharati B. Sangma, Assistant Lecturer, Lady Keane College as member of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women, under Rule 5 of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women Act, 2005 in place of Charlotte W. Momin with immediate effect till the expiry of the term of the present State Commission. Other members of the Commission will remain as notified earlier.
 National Science Day
The State Council of Science, Technology & Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya in collaboration with National Innovation Foundation-India & Meghalaya Basin Development Authority will organise a ‘Regional Innovators Conclave’ programme from February 28 to March 2 at the State Central Library, Shillong from 10 am onwards.
Lady Keane functions
Lady Keane College will organise a talk on, “Cancer and its prevalence in Meghalaya- An overview” to be delivered by Judita Syiemlieh, MD, Department of Radiation Oncology, Civil Hospital at 12 pm in the college seminar Hall on Tuesday. The NSS unit and women cell of Lady Keane College in collaboration with Meghalaya State Commission for Women will organise a street play pertaining to crime against women on the same day at Police Bazaar from 2 pm.
