Guwahati: Assam government on Tuesday said about 7,400 people will be recruited soon for the state police department. “We do not have sufficient number of sub inspectors and constables in Assam Police. We are hiring 2,400 people soon. The in the next phase another 5,000 people will be hired,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said.It is the state government’s plan is to make the police force best in the country, he said replying on behalf of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during the discussion on cut motion. Giving credit to the state police force, he claimed that the law and order situation in Assam is “more comfortable” than what it was earlier and also reiterated the government’s commitement to seal the border between India and Bangladesh.
