Man drowns at Mawphanlur

NONGSTOIN: A person identified as Kyntiewdor Wahlang (36) of Mairang Mission drowned in a pond in Mawphanlur, a famous tourist destination in West Khasi Hills, on Tuesday while he was rowing a boat without wearing a life jacket. The victim was a part of a group of picnickers from the PWD’s Mairang Division who had gone to Mawphanlur on Tuesday. Station Officer of Fire & Emergency Service, Nongstoin, S. Nongrem informed that the incident happened around 2.30 pm.
