New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday lashed out at the Left extremists and made a veiled attack on those who “supported China in 1962” and are now sparking row over freedom of expression and tolerance in the country.
“No body has absolute right or privilege to define nationalism….Everyone has the right and their own way of interpretation. But nationalism is something we understand when every individual will try to contribute for the nation,” Mr Rijiju told Times Now.
But he went on to add that “the far Leftists” people in the name of freedom of expression are “shouting slogans against India”.
“They create a false debate of intolerance and the worse is whenever there is a martyr or a jawan is killed by terrorists these far Leftists people celebrate …they are from that school of thought… who supported China during 1962 and today in the name of freedom of expression they are polluting young mind,” Rijiju said.
Earlier in the day, the Minister urged the Congress party to “stay away” from the debate and controversy surrounding fracas in Delhi University and Ramjas College campuses and said the real tussle is an “ideological battle” between the nationalists and the Left extremists.
”Dynastic party, pls stay away. It’s a nationalists vs far-leftists ideological battle. People will decide what suits to make a strong India,” Rijiju said in a tweet. (UNI)
