Champion back in custody

SHILLONG: GNLA chairman Champion Sangma is back in judicial custody due to the case of extortion in Baghmara, South Garo Hills, which was charge sheeted by the police.
Sources said though he was granted bail on February 21 by the lower court here in connection with one case, he was taken into custody in connection with another pending case in Baghmara.
Despite repeated attempts over phone, Champion’s lawyer Sujit Dey did not respond.
