SHILLONG: The UDP members of the District Council held an emergency meeting on Thursday on whether to continue supporting the People’s Democratic Forum (PDF) coalition in the KHADC but remained tight-lipped on the decision.
The meeting was convened after KHADC chief executive member P.N Syiem reportedly hinted that UDP MDCs can withdraw support to the PDF coalition in the Council.
Terming the matter as ‘confidential’, UDP MDC Donkupar Sumer refused to divulge the minutes of the meeting to media persons.
“The Parliamentary Party meeting has taken its decision but we will not be able to disclose the matter to the media as we will have to take it to the party high command,” he said.
When asked, he said the matter would be brought up before the party on Friday.
Upset over the news report, Sumer said, “The final decision will be taken by the party and it is not wise for us to give out details.”
Syiem was annoyed after UDP members decided to meet the governor and asserted that it would be fit for the party to ask its MDCs to withdraw its support to PDF.
When contacted, chairman of the subcommittee on KHADC affairs Bindo Lanong stated that the MDCs have not yet communicated with him on the matter.
