Guwahati: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) is going all out to prevent the outside companies from taking over small oilfields in Assam for which bidders have been selected on the basis of responses to international bidding that was floated by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India.
The AJYCP Workers and activists are on alert to keep the foreign companies at bay. The president of the AJYCP, Biraj Kumar Talukdar said that surrendering the oilfields before the foreign companies without any consultation with the people of the state was a breach of trust the people reposed on Sarbananda Sonowal headed BHNP government in Assam.
Talukdar said, “We are firm on our stand against it and we have been opposing the deal since it was worked out in Delhi after BJP formed the government in Assam. We are fully prepared to go to any extent to prevent the foreign companies from taking over these oilfields.”
“ We have already kept our activists on alert on the oilfields in question. They are keeping a close watch on these oilfields to ensure that the foreign companies are not allowed to land in,” he said.
The government already had struck deal with foreign companies last year to take over some of these oilfields.
