TURA: A social organisation from Ampati in South West Garo Hills has apprised the District Deputy Commissioner of the water problem in some villages.
The All A’chik Public Association (AAPA) in their letter to the deputy commissioner informed that Arenggre and Godalgre villages under Betasing C&RD Block are facing severe water crisis for the last several years as wells have dried up and the existing taps are non-functional.
“To support farmers and help families rebuild their lives, old wells and irrigation taps must be revived and contour trenches built,” the AAPA said.
Earlier, villagers had submitted a complaint to the government but nothing was done, the association claimed. “We urge the deputy commissioner to look into the matter so that the problem can be solved at the earliest,” it said.
