SHILLONG: Nongthymmai MLA Jemino Mawthoh has made a pitch for building the skills of unemployed youths of the State in various trades but particularly in the Railways. He said this while participating in the debate on the Governor’s address in the Assembly on Monday.
Mawthoh also urged the state government to immediately roll out Phase III of the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) since the scheme has benefitted the poor in the State. While asking the government to rectify all the errors in the list of beneficiaries in the Right to Food programme, he said that the names of many genuine beneficiaries are not included in the list.
Appreciating the government for launching the CM’s Social Assistance Scheme for the infirm, widows and single mothers, Mawthoh stressed on the need to enhance the monthly stipend of Rs 500 saying that many single mothers in the State are finding it difficult to make ends meet. The Nongthymmai MLA also expressed concern over the State’s preparedness to deal with disasters saying that an analysis is required to see how prepared the Government is to face any eventualities.
