Gratuitous relief
The West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has informed that an amount of Rs.5,24,800 has been sanctioned for payment of gratuitous relief to the affected beneficiaries under Amlarem C&RD Block.
Drive against illicit liquor
In its continued drive against illicit liquor, the Excise staff of East Khasi Hills District conducted raids in restaurants and stalls in the town and its outskirts during the month of January 2017 and detected 26 cases with a seizure of 128.800 litres of i/d liquor and 94.025 litres IMFL. In this connection, 22 persons were arrested under Excise Act.
Awareness programme
The Synjuk Ki Kynthei, Shillong in collaboration with North East Educational and Development Society (NEEDS) recently organised an eco-sensitive awareness programme at He-Mont Zenith Secondary School, Madan Iing Syiem, Mylliem. Over 100 students participated in the programme.
Condolence
The members of Rabindranath Tagore Club, Laban, have condoled the death of Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee, noted folk singer and member of Bengali folk band Dohar, in a road mishap in West Bengal on Tuesday.
Inspection
A team of NEEPCO officials led by MS Jyrwa, Executive Director (O&M), visited Rilbong LP School on March 6 to assess the implementation of the scheme sanctioned under the CSR 2016-17 for the infrastructural development of the school. The managing committee of the school has conveyed its support to NEEPCO.
