FKJGP says no to UCIL talks offer

SHILLONG: Firm on its anti-uranium mining stand, the central executive committee of the FKJGP has refused to sit for talks on the contentious Kylleng Pyndengsohiong, Mawthabah uranium mining project with the Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL) scheduled to be held at Pinewood Hotel on March 16.
In a meeting on Wednesday, the FKJGP reiterated its anti-uranium mining stand and conveyed its message in this regard to the UCIL.
Crime against women
Voicing its concern over the rising crimes against women, the FKJGP demanded the setting up of fast track courts or special courts to speed up trials.
The meeting also discussed the problem of influx in the State and demanded the implementation of education policy.
The FKJGP will also organise a public meeting on socio-economic movement starting from Shillong on March 28.
