NCP submits letter to Parrikar, demands early action

SHILLONG: The State NCP unit has petitioned Union Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar complaining that the Defence Authorities have forcibly encroached the Garrison ground which is located in the city.
The letter was sent through NCP’s North East in charge Praful Patel.
Patel submitted the memorandum to the Defence Minister demanding that Defence establishment should also be shifted outside Shillong.
The letter said Garrison ground has been used by the public for many decades until it was forcibly encroached by the Defence establishment, adding that the ground was under the management of Laban Sports Club till 1906.
According to letter, Defence authorities have no documents to prove that the ground belongs to them.
