SHILLONG: As the Shillong-Nongstoin-Tura road has been revamped and upgraded into one of the best road in the State, the Meghalaya Transport Corporation has introduced daily morning bus service from Shillong to Rongjeng via Nongstoin.
The Managing Director of the Meghalaya Transport Corporation, A. Nikhla said that the bus service will start from March 13.
The fares of the 193 km road trip is Rs 205 per head and the bus would depart from MUDA parking lot, opposite Anjalee Cinema Hall, Bara Bazar at 6.30 am and another bus would depart from Main Market area in Rongjeng at the same time. According to Nikhla, MTC had a bus service to Rongjeng about 10 years ago but it was stopped due to bad road condition and low occupancy. However, the road has been mended and the MTC decided to try its luck by plying on this route since the charges of sumo and other light vehicles travelling to Rongjeng from Shillong is very high.
