SHILLONG: Opposition member Jemino Mawthoh (UDP) has expressed concern over undue delay in the commissioning of 21.5 MW Ganol hydel project.
Moving a cut motion in the Assembly on Wednesday against the requirement of additional money by the Government in connection with the construction of Ganol project, Mawthoh said the delay had put additional financial burden on the Government. He said though the project was approved in 2007, the work started only in 2014.
In reply, Power Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar informed that the cost of the project increased due to the new Land Acquisition Act, 2013.
He said among others, the residential quarter at power house is yet to be constructed.  At present, the overall physical progress of the work is 40 per cent and the expenditure incurred till December 2016 is Rs 134.13 crore.   The total cost of the project is Rs 356.43 crore.
