Extortionist using GNLA name held

TURA: A history-sheeter, who was arrested in the past for his association with GNLA, has been apprehended for extorting traders and businessmen using the rebel group’s name.
South West Garo Hills district police on Sunday arrested Tengsrang Ch Momin and his accomplice Sohrab Miah after they sent demand notes to several businessmen in Ampati and Mahendraganj. He was currently out on bail. The accused had been posing as GNLA area commander for Ampati region and using the aliases Dikki D Shira and Jimbo and had extorted a few traders in South West and East Garo Hills, police said.
