Attendance-linked stipend for HS students

SHILLONG: The State Government has announced a new scheme under which students of higher secondary schools will get stipend for regularly attending classes.
Replying to the budget discussion in the Assembly on Monday, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said the new scheme, Chief Minister’s Attendance-linked Assistance, will be initiated from the academic year 2017-18 to encourage students to attend classes regularly and will help in reducing dropout rate at the higher secondary level.
Sangma pointed out that under the scheme, an assistance of Rs 5,000 will be given to students who will attend 80 percent classes in an academic year.
